10 minutes flat stroll from the centre of Samoens, Chalet Toubkal is in an idyllic location for holidays throughout the year, with the ski bus stopping 5 minutes’ walk away offering convenience, yet set back off a quiet road so you can be assured of a peaceful stay.
Renovated completely in 2015, to the highest standards and designed with families and groups in mind, this chalet is a real gem. It offers 140m2 of accommodation arranged over 3 floors, creating a light, yet wonderfully cosy atmosphere with the blend of different woods, mixed with chic and contemporary alpine style. Enjoy luxurious treats such as the hot tub and wood-fired barrel sauna set in the huge flat gardens, under floor heating, Satellite TV, free and private WiFi, granite work surfaces, and a snug with Playstation 4 and games room.
The living space is completely open plan in the most spacious part of the chalet. This area makes the most of the incredible views surrounding the chalet, which you can view from the huge windows and french doors, sweeping along 3 sides of the chalet. Enjoy the log burner on those cold winter nights, set against the funky feature wall. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and fitted out with luxury black granite worktops, full sized oven, 4 ring electric hob, large fridge, even a NESPRESSO machine for the coffee lovers. There is also an island, which the hob is fitted into, meaning the chef (or chefs!) can socialise with the rest of the group.
With more than ample seating around the large dining table, and the huge corner sofa, there's more than enough room for everyone, especially with the addition of the snug downstairs, ideal for the kids (big and little!) with a Playstation 4, and sofa bed for larger groups and flexible sleeping arrangements. There is also a games room on this level, with table football and darts. Badminton and boules are also supplied for the summer months.
Going back up to the first floor, the french doors off the living area lead out onto the huge balcony, equipped with tables and chairs for those alfresco dining nights (most evenings in the summer!). Steps off this balcony lead down to the garden and decking, where you'll find the hot tub. Chalet Toubkal has the most extensive garden of all our properties, making this the ideal choice for your family holiday, perfect for summer and winter, ample space for a game of football, or use the badminton set provided. In winter you can build a whole family of snowmen from this garden!
On the first floor also is the first bedroom, a twin, which can also be made as a double, with adjoining shower room. The other 3 bedrooms are located on the top floor, first the spacious master, with a king (or twin), and sofa bed for one adult or 2 children, ensuite bathroom with extra large bath as well as a separate shower, WC and sink, and access onto the top balcony.
The third bedroom is another king, with plenty of storage space, and again, access onto the balcony.
The 4th bedroom is a twin, set in the cosy alcoves, so beware of the limited head height of one of the beds. This is an ideal room for the kids, with a picture-sozed window providing a view of the infamous Criou mountain, behind the chalet.
The third and fourth bedroom share a shower room with large shower, WC and sink.
The chalet can sleep up to 12 people, using the snug as a 5th bedroom, but there may be a extra charge for this.
Waterfall views and acres of open land surround the chalet, with direct access to some of the areas most breathtaking walking and cycling trails. The exterior of the chalet has also been fully renovated using a unique burnt wood exterior, as well as extra thick insulation to the keep the chalet super warm in winter and cooler on hot summer days. Another major benefit to the chalet is the wonderful terrace area leading to the bubbly hot tub. The chalet also has an outside hose providing washing facilities for mountain bikes, which can be stored in the lower floor, with access from the drive.
The chalet has a private driveway with parking for 4 cars.
100% of the electricity used at Chalet Toubkal is supplied by renewable sources.
Samoens, in the Northern French Alps, sits between Morzine and Chamonix, only 1 hour from Geneva. This spectacular and beautiful area is protected and hence hasn’t been spoilt by tourism yet. Samoens has been awarded a ‘Coq d’Or’ for being one of the prettiest villages in France and is the only ski resort classified by the Caisse des Monuments Historiques. Samoens is full of character and charm with stone masonary and farming at the heart, yet still provides the centre for almost every outdoor activity imaginable.
Based at the heart of the Grand Massif mountain region and nestled in the stunning valley of the Giffre river, Samoens and the area provide spectacular scenery including mountain lakes, national parks, waterfalls, botanical gardens and an abundance of wildlife. Just minutes up the road at Sixt Fer a Cheval are over a dozen enormous waterfalls falling some 500m. It has a great deal to offer families, groups and individuals of all ages seeking adventure or alternatively, just sheer relaxation.
Supermarkets and specialist food stores in the area are plentiful. On the edge of Samoens is a Carrefour Market, which is a great sized supermarket, open 8.15-7.15pm, weekdays and non stop on Saturday. Also peak winter season on Sunday mornings. Within the village centre there are 2 small supermarkets open 7 days per week normally with 2 hours lunchtime closing. In addition a super fruit and vegetable store and plenty of ham, cheese, bakery, meat and chocolate shops! Don't forget also to visit the open air market every wednesday throughout the year.
Grand Massif ski area includes the following five resorts: Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz, Sixt and Samoens. Those after self-catered ski chalets in France will relish the extensive skiing and snowboarding this area offers, with an excellent snow record, which is one of the best in the Alps, not only due to the number of north facing runs, but also it enjoys a microclimate due to its proximity to Mont Blanc.
The super fast gondola from Samoens village takes you up to the Samoens 1600m within just eight minutes. This delivers you directly into Samoens’ own extensive ski area, which joins with over 265km of piste, 140 individual pistes plus 80 lifts. Click here to view the piste map. The recent addition of numerous new snow canons in the Grand Massif guarantees snow-covered runs throughout the season, so you can be sure to enjoy great conditions. Winter 2009/10 saw the opening of a new six-seater high-speed chair, which takes you from Samoens 1600m to the Tete de Saix in just six minutes ‐ drastically cutting the time it takes to get to the top!
Samoens not only offers a great please for skiing holidays, but also for summer holidays. Perhaps you're bored of the standard beach holiday? Looking for something relaxing yet adventurous?
